Proposition of a critical design direct normal irradiance for solar thermal power plant

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 2018
An appropriate design of solar thermal power plant (STPP) is important before construction. This present study attempted to deal with some fundamental questions in design of STPP.

Upacicalcet: A Novel Intravenous Calcimimetic Agent for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.

Is spatial intelligibility critical to the design of largescale virtual environments? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper discusses the concept of 'intelligibility', a concept usually attributed to the design of real-world environments and suggests how it might be applied to the construction of virtual environments.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Transit Thermal Control Design for Galileo Entry Probe for Planet Jupiter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A totally passive design was completed for the thermal control of the Galileo entry probe during its transit to the planet Jupiter. The design utilizes radio isotope heater units, multilayer insulation blankets and a thermal radiator in conjunction with ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Asymmetric Cherenkov acoustic reverse in topological insulators

open access: yes, 2014
A general phenomenon of the Cherenkov radiation known in optics or acoustics of conventional materials is a formation of a forward cone of, respectively, photons or phonons emitted by a particle accelerated above the speed of light or sound in those ...

Critical design as approach to next thinking

open access: yes, 2017
Critical design offers opportunities to benefit considerably the future design thinking. This practice is based on premises that are meaningful for the whole design discipline if adopted as an integral part of design process.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
