Effect of double-hit deformation on the onset of critical stress for the initiation of dynamic transformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Double-hit hot compression tests were carried on medium-carbon low-alloy steels using Gleeble 3800® thermomechanical simulator. The tests were performed at strain rates of 0.25 and 0.5 s-1 and temperatures of 1150 and 1200 °C with an interpass time of 5s.

Modeling of critical strain for dynamic recrystallization of niobium microalloyed steels

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
The critical strain for dynamic recrystallization (DRX) is most important in designing rolling schedules for the refinement of grain size by boundary-induced transformation mechanisms. Modeling of the critical strain for DRX from the stress-strain curves

Experimental study on the influence of seismic subsidence of loess under bidirectional loading modes

open access: yesEarthquake Research Advances, 2021
Water content, dry density, void ratio, depth of soil layer, and seismic loading may all exert influence on the seismic subsidence of loess. Many scholars have carried out seismic subsidence tests of loess to simulate the stress on soil using ...

Study on the instability response mechanism and control measures for the key block undergoing dynamic stress disturbance in roadway subjected to static stress

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk
Rock bursts are sudden instability phenomena of a coal mass that occur under the superimposed action of dynamic and static stresses. Current research on the mechanism of rock bursts primarily focuses on the inherent properties of coal-rock masses ...

Investigation on shakedown response-behavior of thawed subgrade soils under long-term traffic loading

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The shakedown state of the subgrade is crucial for the sustainable design and long-term stability evaluation of pavement structures. In order to characterize the plastic deformation and shakedown behavior of subgrade soil in seasonal frozen regions ...

Evaluation of quasistatic and dynamic strength of components with stress concentrators based on the theory of critical distances [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
This work is devoted to the development a technique for assessment of the quasi-static and dynamic strength in metals with stress concentrators on the basis of the Theory of Critical Distances. The main feature of the technique is its ability to estimate of the lifetime of metals that have both direct and inverse strain rate sensitivity in a wide range
