Research on flexible excitation system applied to improve transient stability characteristics of the receiving-end power grid

open access: yesZhejiang dianli, 2022
The transient forced excitation of the traditional excitation system used for synchronous condenser is limited and unmaintainable. A flexible excitation system can improve the crest value of transient forced excitation and maintain the forced excitation ...

Nonstationary Random Critical Seismic Excitations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Mechanics, 1987
A method is presented to find nonstationary random seismic excitations with a constraint on mean square value such that the response variance of a given linear system is maximized. It is also possible to incorporate the dominant input frequency into the analysis.

Nerve excitability changes in critical illness polyneuropathy [PDF]

open access: yesBrain, 2006
Patients in intensive care units frequently suffer muscle weakness and atrophy due to critical illness polyneuropathy (CIP), an axonal neuropathy associated with systemic inflammatory response syndrome and multiple organ failure. CIP is a frequent and serious complication of intensive care that delays weaning from mechanical ventilation and increases ...

Simultaneous Optimization of Elastic-Plastic Building Structures and Viscous Dampers Under Critical Double Impulse

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2020
A new method for simultaneous optimal design of main building structures and viscous dampers is proposed for elastic-plastic multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) building structures subjected to the critical double impulse which is regarded as a representative

Critical fronts in initiation of excitation waves [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2007
We consider the problem of initiation of propagating wave in a one-dimensional excitable fiber. In the FitzHugh-Nagumo theory, the key role is played by ``critical nucleus'' and ``critical pulse'' solutions whose (center-)stable manifold is the threshold surface separating initial conditions leading to propagation and those leading to decay. We present

Competitive Failure of Loosening and Fatigue of Bolts under Composite Excitation

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
At present, research on the loosening of bolts under transverse excitation and their fatigue under axial excitation has been relatively mature, but research on the competitive relationship and failure characteristics between loosening and fatigue of ...

Vector Boson Excitations Near Deconfined Quantum Critical Points [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2013
We show that the N el states of two-dimensional antiferromagnets have low energy vector boson excitations in the vicinity of deconfined quantum critical points. We compute the universal damping of these excitations arising from spin-wave emission. Detection of such a vector boson will demonstrate the existence of emergent topological gauge excitations

Analytical Threshold for Chaos of Piecewise Duffing Oscillator with Time-Delayed Displacement Feedback

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
In this paper, the bifurcation and chaotic motion of a piecewise Duffing oscillator with delayed displacement feedback under harmonic excitation are studied.

Laser-induced valence electron excitation in acetylene

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Strong-field induced valence electron excitation is a common process in strong field interaction with atoms and molecules. In the case of polyatomic molecules, the effects of ionization from low-lying molecular orbitals and nuclear dynamics during the ...
