3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Distribution of critical fusion frequencies.

open access: yes, 2014
(a) Histogram of the mean critical fusion frequency for all taxa; and (b) Boxplot of log10 critical fusion frequency (CFF) by class. The solid line indicates the flicker frequency of lamps on a 50 Hz electrical supply.

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Perceptual learning of motion leads to faster flicker perception. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2006
Critical flicker fusion thresholds (CFFT) describe when quick amplitude modulations of a light source become undetectable as the frequency of the modulation increases.

Design and Modeling of a High‐Displacement, Skin‐Integrated Flexible Electromagnetic Actuator for Haptic Interfaces in Virtual Reality

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A flexible, skin‐integrated electromagnetic actuator is developed for wearable virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) haptic systems. A tunable design model enables control over displacement and resonance frequency. The system is validated through a custom VR application with a 6 × 4 actuator array, demonstrating real‐time, spatially targeted tactile ...

A Novel Device to Measure Critical Flicker Fusion Frequency

open access: yes, 2007
A light blinking faster and faster will appear to fuse into a continuous light at a certain frequency, the critical flicker fusion frequency (CFFF). CFFF depends on an intact optic nerve and it has been demonstrated previously that diseases that affect ...

Comparison of Two Instrumental Assessment of Mental Fatigue

open access: yesInternational Journal of Occupational Hygiene, 2017
Mental fatigue (MF) is considered as a contributor factor in incident, even catastrophic one. Electroencephalography measurement has been the most acceptable method to assess MF by neurologists.
