Critical headway estimation under uncertainty and non-ideal communication conditions
This article proposes a safety check extension to Adaptive Cruise Control systems where the critical headway time is estimated in real-time. This critical headway time estimate enables automated reaction to crisis circumstances such as when a preceding vehicle performs an emergency brake.

Exchange interaction in the time headway model in critical traffic flow states
16th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC 2013), 2013Mitigation of traffic congestion is an important challenge for intelligent transportation systems (ITSs). However, congestion in basic sections on interurban expressways is not effectively considered in ITS design because spontaneous generation of congestion has not yet been modeled.

The perceived criticality of different time headways is depending on velocity
Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour, 2018Abstract Time headway (THW) presumably represents a velocity-independent measure of safe following distances during car-following. However, studies using on-road data show that drivers decrease their THWs as velocity increases (e.g., Brackstone, Waterson, & McDonald, 2009).

Transitions of vehicle control between automated vehicle and driver remain a necessity in the near future. Most research focuses on system-initiated transitions of control. However, drivers may also actively decide to take over without being prompted by the automation.

This paper describes the results of the critical headways surveys at roundabouts in the Russian Federation. The project is finished in 2017 and its main target is to improve the capacity and delays estimation technique. In the period of the USSR the manual of traffic circles and roundabouts design was prepared in the middle of the 80th of last century.

Critical headway is an important parameter for roundabout design, particularly with regard to analytical modeling approaches. The models that have been developed over the past 30 years were typically based on data obtained from manually reduced video or field observations. This paper reports on the application of wireless magnetometers to collect point
