Geographically Weighted Cronbach's Alpha

open access: green, 2023
As individual’s cognitions and behaviours are affected by where they live, the reliability of responses to tests or scales may vary with location. In this paper, we develop a local version of Cronbach’s alpha, geographically weighted Cronbach's alpha, to investigate how the reliability of the measure varies spatially.

Clarity on Cronbach’s Alpha Use [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Education, 2020
The Cronbach’s alpha (α) statistic is regularly reported in science education studies. However, recent reviews have noted that it is not well-understood. Therefore, this commentary provides additional clarity regarding the language used when describing and interpreting alpha and other estimates of reliability.

The Logical Structure of Cronbach's Coefficient Alpha, and its Precision in Estimating Reliability under Measurement Models Assumptions. [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Islamic Studies, 2009
The study examined three main research questions: 1- What is the logical structure of Cronbach's Coefficient Alpha and its implications" 2- Under what measurement models and cicumstances the use of Coefficient Alpha produce either accurate or biased ...

Sample Size in Reliability Studies: A Practical Guide Based on Cronbach's Alpha

open access: diamondPsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, 2022
Objective: Internal consistency of scales is crucial for the quality of clinical practices, and scales that measure various aspects of clinical disorders must possess acceptable internal consistency.

Calculating and interpreting Cronbach's alpha using Rosenberg assessment scale on paediatrician's attitude and perception on self esteem

open access: diamond, 2016
Background: Items used in a questionnaire should have internal consistency, which reflects its reliability. The most common and useful measure for internal consistency is cronbach’s alpha.

An aberrant abundance of Cronbach's alpha values at .70

open access: greenAdvances in Methods and Practices in Psychological Science
Cronbach’s α is the most widely reported metric of the reliability of psychological measures. Decisions about an observed α’s adequacy are often made using rule-of-thumb thresholds, such as α of at least .70.

Cronbach’s Alpha: Genesis, Issues and Alternatives

open access: yesIMIB Journal of Innovation and Management
The most widely used metric for assessing a scale’s reliability is Cronbach’s alpha. Since its introduction in 1951 by Lee Cronbach, it has evolved into the accepted benchmark for scale reliability. A quick search for ‘Cronbach’s alpha’ in Google Scholar yields more than 8 hundred thousand results.

Confidence Intervals for Cronbach's Coefficient Alpha Values [PDF]

open access: green, 2003
Coefficient Alpha, which is widely used in empirical research, estimates the reliability of a test consisting of parallel items. In practice it is difficult to compare values of alpha across studies as it depends on the number of items used. In this paper we provide a simple solution, which amounts to computing the confidence intervals of an alpha, as ...
