Improving the Availability of Organic Forage Seed in Wales [PDF]
The EU regulation requiring organic farmers to use 100% organic herbage seed is looming closer. Currently they are ‘enjoying’ a derogation from this because suitable seed is not available. For 2004 seeds mixtures had to contain at least 50% organic seed.

Economic Feasibility of Crop‐Livestock Integration System in Brazil
ABSTRACT We investigate the economic feasibility of the Brazilian crop‐livestock integration system. Under this system, the Brazilian farmer can produce soybeans, corn, and graze for cattle on the same land during one crop year. This technology can substantially increase agricultural production in the country.

Integrated crop/livestock systems research: Practical research considerations
AbstractThere are many reasons for the paucity of integrated crop/livestock research and associated publications. Integrated/crop livestock experiments that involve adequate treatments and replications, as perceived by both crop and animal scientists, require large numbers of hectares, many animals, considerable labor to conduct the research ...

When the River Runs Low: Heterogeneous Impacts of Transportation Disruptions on Local Grain Basis
ABSTRACT A substantial share of U.S. soybean and corn exports from the Midwest moves by barge along the Mississippi River system to export terminals in the Louisiana Gulf. Transportation costs between Midwestern grain elevators and export terminals create a wedge between prices at these locations, and shocks to these costs are partially passed on to ...

Social aspects of integrated crop-livestock systems: key for future policy
The regional integration of crop and livestock production systems (ICLS) has been proposed as a solution towards a more sustainable and circular food system. Studies on ICLS, however, tend to focus on the agronomical consequences of such collaborations, with little insight into the influence of social aspects (e.g., policies, trust) on the development ...
