Crop Coefficients, Growth Rates and Quality of Cool‐Season Turfgrasses [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agronomy and Crop Science, 2015
AbstractDetermination of crop coefficients (Kc), the ratio between actual (ETa) and reference evapotranspiration (ET0), is necessary to schedule irrigation. Our objective was to determine Kc, turf quality and growth rate under daily irrigation to field capacity (FC = −3 kPa tension) and drying. Minilysimeters installed in a green (mowing height 3–5 mm)

Impact of Weed and Seeding Rates on Crop Growth Rate of Five Barley Cultivars

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2023
Abstract A randomized complete block design with split-split plot arrangement was used to evaluate the effects of weeds and seeding rates on barley cultivar growth rate and yield in the College of Engineering Agricultural Sciences - University of Baghdad - Jadriyah fields in winter 2021–2022.

Growth rate and nutritional status of an organic coffee cropping system [PDF]

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2005
In view of the low N concentration in organic fertilizers, it is necessary to use high rates of such fertilizers to attend coffee crop requirements. Hence, N is the most limiting nutrient for organic coffee production. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) organic fertilization on the growth and ...

Monitoring Corn Crop Height and Growth Rate With Interferometric Coherence

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Future radar Earth observation missions, with reduced revisit times, will offer the capability to obtain valuable data applicable to agriculture and meteorology. They will contribute to a better understanding of some observed changes that exhibit time scales much shorter than present satellite revisit times. In the context of the preparatory studies in

Effect of Endophytic Microorganisms on Growth Rate of Crops

open access: yesFood Processing: Techniques and Technology
Increasing the yield of wheat, barley, and oats is a pressing issue. It largely depends on soil fertility. Mineral fertilizers, however, may be ineffective and unsustainable. As a result, microorganisms seem to be a promising alternative. The authors isolated endophytic microorganisms with growth-stimulating properties and assessed their effect on the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Standing crop and growth rate of Ulva pertusa on an intertidal flat.

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1987
Distribution of Ulva pertusa in an intertidal flat in Mikawa Bay was investigated visually from a boat and aerially with a multi spectral scanner from a plane in the summer of 1985. The values of standing crop and vegetation area estimated from these two methods agreed well.
