Geosensors to Support Crop Production: Current Applications and User Requirements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sensor technology, which benefits from high temporal measuring resolution, real-time data transfer and high spatial resolution of sensor data that shows in-field variations, has the potential to provide added value for crop production.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Effects of Winter Cover Crop Mixture and Termination on the Performance and Physiology of cv. Barbera (Vitis vinifera L.) Grapevines

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Grape and Wine Research
The adoption of winter cover crops (CCs), to be terminated in spring, is gaining popularity in temperate climate viticulture. We evaluated the effects of two novel termination practices—interrow rolling (R) and subrow mulching (SRM)—on vine performance ...
