Pre-Whirl Flow and Its Control in a Cross Flow Fan

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2013
In a previous paper, the effect of angle and length of the inlet guide vane on the performance of a cross-flow fan was examined. By installing a guide vane having one sheet in the tongue division side in the suction region, the performance of the cross ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Experimental research of the couette flow with cross flow

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
When a solid cylinder is rotating inside a hollow cylinder, a characteristic fluid flow occurs inside the gap between the two cylinders, caused by the adhesion of the fluid at the walls. This flow problem is widely known as the Couette-flow.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Cross flow response of a cylindrical structure under local shear flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2009
The VIV (Vortex-Induced Vibration) analysis of a flexible cylindrical structure under locally strong shear flow is presented. The model is made of Teflon and has 9.5m length, 0.0127m diameter, and 0.001m wall thickness.

Transient energy growth of channel flow with cross-flow [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
The effect of a uniform cross flow (injection/ suction) on the transient energy growth of a plane Poiseuille flow is investigated. Non-modal linear stability analysis is carried out to determine the two-dimensional optimal perturbations for maximum ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Over Circular Cyclinders in Cross Flow

open access: yesNUST Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2010
An extensive numerical study is conducted to determine cross flow of air (Pr=0.71) around isothermal cylinders of circular crosssection in arrangements such as single cylinder, inline arrays and staggered arrays.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
