In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

An Accurate Discrete Current Controller for High-Speed PMSMs/Gs in Flywheel Applications

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
High-speed Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors/Generators (PMSMs/Gs) in a Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) are faced with high cross-coupling voltages and low switching-to-fundamental frequency ratios.

Absorption of Scalars by Extended Objects [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We derive the low energy absorption cross section of minimal scalars for a very generic class of geometries, that includes, among others, black holes, strings, $p$-branes, as well as intersecting brane configurations.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Colored noise in the fractional Hall effect: duality relations and exact results

open access: yes, 1999
We study noise in the problem of tunneling between fractional quantum Hall edge states within a four probe geometry. We explore the implications of the strong-weak coupling duality symmetry existent in this problem for relating the various density ...

Axially Uniform Magnetic Field-Modulation Excitation for Electron Paramagnetic Resonance in Rectangular and Cylindrical Cavities by Slot Cutting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In continuous-wave (CW) Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) a low-frequency time-harmonic magnetic field, called field modulation, is applied parallel to the static magnetic field and incident on the sample.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Local Normal Mode Coupling and Energy Band Splitting in Elliptically Birefringent 1D Magnetophotonic Crystals

open access: yes, 2007
An analysis is presented of wave-vector dispersion in elliptically birefringent stratified magneto-optic media having one-dimensional periodicity. It is found that local normal-mode polarization-state differences between adjacent layers lead to mode ...

From Fundamental Strings to Small Black Holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We give evidence in favour of a string/black hole transition in the case of BPS fundamental string states of the Heterotic string. Our analysis goes beyond the counting of degrees of freedom and considers the evolution of dynamical quantities in the ...
