The Gradient of Spontaneous Oscillations Across Cortical Hierarchies Measured by Wearable Magnetoencephalography

open access: yesTechnologies
The spontaneous oscillations within the brain are intimately linked to the hierarchical structures of the cortex, as evidenced by the cross-cortical gradient between parametrized spontaneous oscillations and cortical locations.

Visualizing quantum entanglement and the EPR paradox during the photodissociation of a diatomic molecule using two ultrashort laser pulses

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate theoretically the dissociative ionization of a H2+ molecule using two ultrashort laser (pump-probe) pulses. The pump pulse prepares a dissociating nuclear wave packet on an ungerade surface of H2+.

Predicting the Future Burden of Renal Replacement Therapy in Türkiye Using National Registry Data and Comparative Modeling Approaches

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

Robust Procedures for Obtaining Assembly Contact State Extremal Configurations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Two important components in the selection of an admittance that facilitates force-guided assembly are the identification of: 1) the set of feasible contact states, and 2) the set of configurations that span each contact state, i.e., the extremal ...

Addressing Model Vulnerability to Distributional Shifts over Image Transformation Sets

open access: yes, 2019
We are concerned with the vulnerability of computer vision models to distributional shifts. We formulate a combinatorial optimization problem that allows evaluating the regions in the image space where a given model is more vulnerable, in terms of image ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Buckling analysis of nonuniform nonlocal strain gradient beams using generalized differential quadrature method

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2018
Recently, it was shown that the length scales presented in nonlocal elasticity and strain gradient theory each describe a different physical and material properties of structures at small scales.

Origin of Small-Scale Anisotropies in Galactic Cosmic Rays

open access: yes, 2016
The arrival directions of Galactic cosmic rays (CRs) are highly isotropic. This is expected from the presence of turbulent magnetic fields in our Galactic environment that repeatedly scatter charged CRs during propagation.

Identification and phenotypic plasticity of Pseudanabaena catenata from the Svalbard archipelago [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A filamentous benthic cyanobacteria, strain USMAC16, was isolated from the High Arctic Svalbard archipelago, Norway, and a combination of morphological, ultrastructural and molecular characterisation (16S rRNA gene sequence) used to identify to species ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.
