Associations of Rheumatoid Arthritis Disease Activity With Frailty Over Five Years of Follow‐up

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To evaluate whether rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity is associated with frailty both in cross‐section and longitudinally. Methods Participants within the Veterans Affairs Rheumatoid Arthritis (VARA) registry enrolled from 2003 to 2022 were included.

Examining the stress-eating relationship using cross- lagged correlations: an unexplored possibility

open access: yes, 2022
The relationship between stress and eating is well-known. Some individuals exhibit stress-induced overeating, while others exhibit stress-induced under-eating. However, the ongoing research focus on same-day stress-eating associations disregards the evolutionary improbability of food being readily available during stressful events.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Variability of rainfall in Suriname and the relation with ENSO-SST and TA-SST [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Geosciences, 2006
Spatial correlations in the annual rainfall anomalies are analyzed using principle component analyses (PCA). Cross correlation analysis and composites are used to measure the influence of sea surface temperatures anomalies (SSTAs) in the tropical ...

Predictors of pretraumatic stress during the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
BackgroundPretraumatic stress has the same symptoms as post-traumatic stress but instead pertains to anticipated threats. There is evidence that pretraumatic stress occurs among soldiers and pregnant people.ObjectiveWe analyzed correlates of pretraumatic

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

The apple does not fall far: stable predictive relationships between parents’ ratings of their own and their children’s self-regulatory abilities

open access: yesChild and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health
Having control over your own behavior and impulses is a critical skill that influences children’s academic, social, and emotional development. This study investigates the stability and predictive relationships between parents’ ratings of their own and ...

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Thermally Pre‐Formed Reconfigurable Resistive Random‐Access Memory Crossbar Arrays: A Dual‐Mode Platform for Robust Physically Unclonable Functions and In‐Memory Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable RRAM platform utilizing thermally pre‐formed filaments (TPFs) is developed to realize robust hardware security. By exploiting the thermodynamic stochasticity of TPFs, exceptionally reliable physically unclonable functions (PUFs) are achieved.
