Cross-lagged panel modeling with binary and ordinal outcomes.

Psychological Methods
To date, cross-lagged panel modeling has been studied only for continuous outcomes. This article presents methods that are suitable also when there are binary and ordinal outcomes. Modeling, testing, identification, and estimation are discussed.

Longitudinal SEM in Mplus: Latent Growth and Cross-Lagged Panel Models

2022
This seminar introduces longitudinal panel data models in Mplus using SEM, including latent growth models (i.e., latent curve or latent trajectory models) and cross-lagged panel models (i.e., panel vector autoregression) with random and fixed effects, including the random intercept cross-lagged panel model (RI-CLPM) to assess time-varying and stable ...

Can cross-lagged panel modeling be relied on to establish cross-lagged effects? The case of contemporaneous and reciprocal effects.

Psychological Methods
This article considers identification, estimation, and model fit issues for models with contemporaneous and reciprocal effects. It explores how well the models work in practice using Monte Carlo studies as well as real-data examples. Furthermore, by using models that allow contemporaneous and reciprocal effects, the paper raises a fundamental question ...

Peer victimization and emotion regulation strategies in adolescents: A cross‐lagged panel model

Journal of Research on Adolescence
Abstract Many adolescents experience peer victimization during this critical period for development. Emotion regulation strategies, including cognitive reappraisal and emotional suppression, can help adolescents cope with such experiences.

Cross-lagged Panel Mediation Models with Latent Constructs: Specification and Estimation

Multivariate Behavioral Research, 2019
The use of observed scores to represent constructs in cross-lagged panel mediation models (CLPMs) can result in inaccurate effect estimates of these constructs (Cole & Maxwell, 2003; Little, 2013)....

The longitudinal association between intrinsic capacity and functional ability in older adults: comparing findings from the cross-lagged panel model and the random-intercept cross-lagged panel model

The Journals of Gerontology, Series A: Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences
Abstract Background Intrinsic capacity (IC) is a multidimensional construct defined by the World Health Organization. Although IC has been established as a significant predictor of functional decline in older adults, emerging evidence suggests that functional impairment may, in turn, accelerate the ...

Longitudinal SEM in R: Latent Growth and Cross-Lagged Panel Models

2022
This seminar introduces longitudinal panel data models in Lavaan using SEM, including latent growth models (i.e., latent curve or latent trajectory models) and cross-lagged panel models (i.e., panel vector autoregression) with random and fixed effects, including the random intercept cross-lagged panel model (RI-CLPM) to assess time-varying and stable ...
