Identifying agreement/disagreement in conversational speech: a cross-lingual study

Interspeech 2011, 2011
This paper presents models for detecting agreement/disagreement between speakers in English and Arabic broadcast conversation shows. We explore a variety of features, including lexical, structural, durational, and prosodic features. We experiment with these features using Conditional Random Fields models and conduct systematic investigations on ...

On the Study of Generative Adversarial Networks for Cross-Lingual Voice Conversion

2019 IEEE Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding Workshop (ASRU), 2019
Cross-lingual voice conversion (VC) aims to convert the source speaker's voice to sound like that of the target speaker, when the source and target speakers speak different languages. In this paper, we propose to use Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for cross-lingual voice-conversion. We further the studies on Variational Autoencoding Wasserstein

Tense Tagging for Verbs in Cross-Lingual Context: A Case Study

2005
The current work applies Conditional Random Fields to the problem of temporal reference mapping from Chinese text to English text. The learning algorithm utilizes a moderate number of linguistic features that are easy and inexpensive to obtain. We train a tense classifier upon a small amount of manually labeled data.

Cross-lingual studies of ASR errors: paradigms for perceptual evaluations

2012
It is well-known that human listeners significantly outperform machines when it comes to transcribing speech. This paper presents a progress report of the joint research in the automatic vs human speech transcription and of the perceptual experiments developed at LIMSI that aims to increase our understanding of automatic speech recognition errors.

Cross-lingual query expansion in multilingual folksonomies: A case study on Flickr

Knowledge-Based Systems, 2013
Many studies on folksonomy analysis have focused on discovering meaningful patterns between three main entities (i.e., users, tags, and resources) from a folksonomy system to provide various information services to users. However, most of them have simply assumed that the tags in the folksonomy are written in a same language, i.e., any tags can be ...

Study on Cross-Lingual Adaptation of a Czech LVCSR System towards Slovak

2011
This paper deals with cross-lingual adaptation of a Large Vocabulary Continuous Speech Recognition (LVCSR) system between two similar Slavic languages --- from Czech to Slovak. The proposed adaptation scheme is performed in two consecutive phases and it is focused on acoustic modeling and phoneme and pronunciation mapping.
