Cross-lingual Alignment Methods for Multilingual BERT: A Comparative Study [PDF]

open access: yesFindings of the Association for Computational Linguistics: EMNLP 2020, 2020
Multilingual BERT (mBERT) has shown reasonable capability for zero-shot cross-lingual transfer when fine-tuned on downstream tasks. Since mBERT is not pre-trained with explicit cross-lingual supervision, transfer performance can further be improved by aligning mBERT with cross-lingual signal.

Multi task learning with general vector space for cross-lingual semantic relation detection

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences, 2022
Semantic relation detection has an important role in natural language processing. In a supervised approach, the training process requires a sufficient amount of labeled data.

Formation of visual memories controlled by gamma power phase-locked to alpha oscillations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Neuronal oscillations provide a window for understanding the brain dynamics that organize the flow of information from sensory to memory areas. While it has been suggested that gamma power reflects feedforward processing and alpha oscillations feedback ...

Cross-Lingual Voice Conversion With Controllable Speaker Individuality Using Variational Autoencoder and Star Generative Adversarial Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
This paper proposes a non-parallel cross-lingual voice conversion (CLVC) model that can mimic voice while continuously controlling speaker individuality on the basis of the variational autoencoder (VAE) and star generative adversarial network (StarGAN ...

Bilingual word recognition in a sentence context [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This article provides an overview of bilingualism research on visual word recognition in isolation and in sentence context. Many studies investigating the processing of words out-of-context have shown that lexical representations from both languages are ...
