Conventional polyethylene is not used much in total hip arthroplasty (THA); it has been supplanted by oxidation‐resistant cross‐linked polyethylene (≥50 kGy irradiation). However, studies persist that de‐emphasize or ignore cross‐linked polyethylene.

The influence of contact stress on the wear of cross-linked polyethylene [PDF]
Generation of wear debris and wear particle-induced osteolysis are the main limitations of metal-on-polyethylene artificial joints. Cross-linked polyethylene has been recently used, particularly in hip replacements, as an alternative material to conventional ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene due to its superior wear resistance. This study focused

Experimental study on vibration transmissibility of Pre-loaded XPE and PE packaging cushioning material [PDF]
Most of the shipped products are sensitive against shock and vibration events during the distribution. Various cushioning materials are usually used to prevent the product damages. During the design process the protective packaging system is developed by

About Safe Loads of Cables with Cross-Linked Polyethylene Insulation
Permissible long currents of cables with voltage 6-lOkV and cross-linked polyethylene insulation are considered in the paper. Smoothing functions have been obtained to estimate permissible long densities of the current in three- and single-core cables at

Electrical treeing behaviours in cross‐linked polyethylene cables after thermal ageing
Long‐term thermal ageing might have impacts on the physicochemical properties of cross‐linked polyethene (XLPE) cables, thereby influencing their electrical behaviours, such as electrical treeing initiation and growth.

γ-Radiation-Induced Cross-Linking of Polyethylene [PDF]
The γ-radiation-induced cross-linking of polyethylene was studied in vacuo at 30—200°C with a dose rate of 1.1×105 rad/hr. The gel fraction increased with rising irradiation temperature, and become almost constant above 150°C. The degree of increase was extremely large at near the melting temperature of polyethylene.
