Synthesis of “long,” hydrophilic, protein-cross-linking reagents

Analytical Biochemistry, 1974
Abstract Since most of the protein cross-linking reagents in use are strongly hydrophobic, their length cannot be increased beyond approximately 20 A between the protein-reactive groups, before denaturation of most proteins becomes noticeable at already a very few cross-links per molecule.

An amino acid-based heterofunctional cross-linking reagent

Amino Acids, 2014
We describe the synthesis and characterization of a new lysine-based heterofunctional cross-linking reagent. It carries two readily available aminooxy functionalities and an activated and protected thiol group that is capable of generating reducible disulfides, the former enable bioorthogonal modification of ketones and aldehydes by the formation of an

Accessibility and cross-linking of native neurofilaments to chemical reagents

International Journal of Biochemistry, 1984
Native neurofilaments were submitted to cross-linking reactions with bifunctional reagents (DMA, DMS and DSS) and to chemical reactions with sterically bulky reagents such as EEDQ and DTAF , as well as a glutaraldehyde-activated gel. The 160K and 70K neurofilament proteins reacted slightly more than the 210K neurofilament protein with DMS and DSS.

PERVAPORATION PROPERTIES OF PDMS MEMBRANES CURED WITH DIFFERENT CROSS-LINKING REAGENTS FOR ETHANOL CONCENTRATION FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS *

, 2009
Ethanol perm-selective PDMS/PVDF composite membranes were prepared by curing polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with various cross-linking reagents, such as tetraethoxylsilane (TEOS), γ-aminopropyltriethoxylsilane (APTEOS), phenyltrimethoxylsilane (PTMOS) and ...

Novel DNA Cross-Linking Reagents

2016
Abstract DNA interstrand cross-links (ICLs) are the sources of the cytotoxicity of many anticancer agents. DNA cross-linking agents are used as anticancer agents, for DNA damage and repair study, for nucleic acid detection, and for construction of DNA nanomaterials.

Preparation and photoactivation of caged fluorophores and caged proteins using a new class of heterobifunctional, photocleavable cross-linking reagents.

Bioconjugate chemistry, 1998
The design, synthesis, and spectroscopic and chemical properties of four members of a new class of heterobifunctional photocleavable (caged) cross-linking reagents were described.

A novel cross-linking reagent for bovine hemoglobin modification.

Biotechnology letters, 2003
A novel cross-linking reagent, methoxypolyethelene glycol-glutamic acid, was synthesized and used to modify bovine hemoglobin. Bis-tetrameric hemoglobin with moderate affinity for O2 was obtained under the controlled reaction conditions.

Effects of zero-length and non-zero-length cross-linking reagents on the optical spectral properties and structures of collagen hydrogels.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2012
We compared the effects of zero-length cross-linkers 1-ethyl-3 (3dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) and non-zero-length cross-linkers glycolaldehyde and glyceraldehyde on the optical and structural properties of three-dimensional (3D) collagen ...

Size control, metal substitution, and catalytic application of cryptomelane nanomaterials prepared using cross-linking reagents

, 2004
A novel sol−gel-assisted solid-state synthetic method has been developed to prepare pure and transition-metal-substituted cryptomelane 1D nanomaterials with controlled particle sizes. Different cross-linking reagents (PVA, glycerol, or glucose) have been

N-hydroxysuccinimide ester functionalized perfluorophenyl azides as novel photoactive heterobifunctional cross-linking reagents. The covalent immobilization of biomolecules to polymer surfaces.

Bioconjugate chemistry, 1994
The synthesis of N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) functionalized perfluorophenyl azides (PFPAs) 2 and 3 is described together with a general method for the covalent modification of polymer surfaces using heterobifunctional, photoactivable cross-linking ...
