Salmonella derby cross-protection study.

Veterinary therapeutics : research in applied veterinary medicine, 2009
An avirulent live (AVL), Salmonella choleraesuis vaccine (Salmo Shield Live [Grand Laboratories, Inc.]) was administered to pigs at weaning or 3 weeks of age. Cross-Protection Betweenhardjoandbalcanica

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1981
Abstract Extract Sir, — We were interested to see the results of the trial conducted by Flint and Liardet (2) which showed that the antibodies produced by hamsters in response to a hardjo bacterin protects them against balcanica infection. Their results complement those from a passive hamster protection test conducted by ourselves.

Cross-Protection among Serotypes of Group A Streptococci

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1972
Cross-protection between two serotypes of Group A streptococci was demonstrated. Type 55 strain 2004 and type 60 strain 365 shared a cross-protective relationship in one direction: type 55 antiserum possessed opsonophagocytic activity against type 60, but type 60 antiserum was inactive against type 55.

Virus Cross-Protection in Transgenic Plants

1988
Plant virus diseases have traditionally been controlled by sanitary agronomic practices, use of virus-free propagates, controlling the insect vectors that spread the pathogen, and incorporating genes for disease resistance. These practices can, in most instances substantially reduce crop losses normally attributed to virus infections. However, changing

Cross-protection: a century of mystery.

Advances in virus research, 2010
Cross-protection is a phenomenon in which infection of a plant with a mild virus or viroid strain protects it from disease resulting from a subsequent encounter with a severe strain of the same virus or viroid. In this chapter, we review the history of cross-protection with regard to the development of ideas concerning its likely mechanisms, including ...
