Why and When Are Evidence‐Based Interventions Adopted in Paediatric Supportive Care? A Qualitative Exploration of the Determinants of Photobiomodulation Implementation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...

Pediatric Oncology Nursing Competencies in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Scoping Review to Inform Practice, Education, and Research

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Nurses are central to cancer care for children and adolescents, yet no comprehensive synthesis has defined essential core competencies for pediatric oncology nursing (PON) practice internationally, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Densely Packed Microgoblet Laser Pairs for Cross‐Referenced Biomolecular Detection [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2015
Microgoblet laser pairs are presented for cross-referenced on-chip biomolecular sensing. Parallel readout of the microlasers facilitates effective mutual filtering of highly localized refractive index and temperature fluctuations in the analyte.

NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

ARCHIPELAGO: A Dedicated Resource for Exploiting Past, Present, and Future Genomic Data on Disease Resistance Regulation in Rice

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2008
Large amounts of expression data dealing with biotic stresses in rice have been produced in the past 5 years. Here, we extensively review approximately 70 publications and gather together information on more than 2,500 genes of the rice defense arsenal ...

The Fate (Outcome) of Clinically Apparent Single Lesion and Oligofocal Nephroblastomatosis Treated According to SIOP/GPOH Protocols for Wilms Tumor

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The management of clinically apparent single lesions or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis, a facultative precursor of nephroblastoma, remains debated. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 37 patients with clinically apparent single or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis (two to three lesions per kidney) among 2347 patients registered between

Differentiation between mechanically loose and fixed press-fit implants using quantitative acoustics and load self-referencing: A phantom study on shoulder prostheses in polyurethane foam.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
This study proposes to use cross-interface quantitative acoustics (ci-qA) and load self-referencing (LSR) to assess implant stability in a radiation-free, inexpensive, rapid, and quantitative manner.

Thinking as mental model-building: a Piagetian-cum-mechanistic explanation of the 'engram' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Piaget (like Skinner) appears to deny the relevance or possibility of describing thought in mechanistic terms. Nevertheless, this paper attempts to outline one way in which this might be done for Piaget's concepts.
