Cross-shore sediment transport processes on natural beaches and their relation to sand bar migration patterns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
During the last two decades several field studies have shown a clear pattern in the cross-shore sediment transport processes on beaches. Outside the surf zone, the stronger onshore velocities under unbroken (Stokes-type) wave crests, produce a dominant ...

Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Sediment Transport and Sorting in Pressurized Pipes

open access: yes, 2021
Sediment transport in pipes is an effective engineering measure used to reallocate water–sediment resources and is widely used in reservoir flooding and sediment discharging, river dredging, floodplain area deposition, as well as other projects.

Resolving the biome debate: ecological and palaeo‐data concur that the extensive tree‐limited grassy biomes of central and north‐western Madagascar are largely anthropogenic

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT For millennia, human activities have transformed ecosystems globally. Determining which landscapes are predominantly anthropogenic is crucial to conservation and habitat restoration. Madagascar, a critically‐threatened biodiversity hotspot, is a prominent example.

Hydrodynamic and morphodynamic patterns on a mid-channel intertidal bar in an estuary [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Surface Dynamics
Mid-channel bars that emerge during low tide are a common feature of estuaries. In contrast to fringing tidal flats, these bars are fully surrounded by channels, which may lead to different hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics. Exactly how is unclear, and

Cross-shore Sediment Transport

open access: yes, 1985
In the first phase of the detailed nodelling of cross-shore sediment transport under random waves a model is constructed which adopts a vertically integrated transport description for sheetflow situations.

Designing a Triplet 2‐Formylphenylnitrene With Fast Tunneling Reactivity

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A 3‐CF3 substituent accelerates tunneling in triplet 2‐formylphenylnitrene, making its reactivity in cryogenic matrices too fast for conventional IR spectroscopic detection. Bringing this chemistry to low‐temperature solutions allows suppression of intrinsic nitrene dimerization through faster cyclization, which even outcompetes the 1,4‐H shift ...

Cross-Shore Sediment Transport in Relation to Waves and Currents in a Groin Compartment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
In nearshore areas waves are generally irregular, and the irregular wave-induced currents have different peak velocities (magnitude asymmetry) and durations (duration asymmetry) between forward and backward motions.

Photothermal–Magnetocaloric Coupled Evaporators for Actively Adjustable Water Evaporation and Oil–Water Purification in Complex Environments

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A photothermal–magnetocaloric coupled aerogel evaporator is developed for actively adjustable water evaporation in complex environments. Magnetocaloric heating provides active energy compensation under low‐light conditions and disrupts interfacial hydrogen‐bond networks to promote evaporation.

Sediment dynamics in shallow water under wave-current interaction: a case study of Haiyang Beach

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
As a critical interface in coastal systems, the intertidal zone presents complex sediment dynamics, yet the precise mechanisms governing resuspension and transport under combined wave-current interactions are not fully resolved.
