Trap‐Programmable Ruddlesden–Popper Perovskite Nanocrystals for Persistent Optoelectronic Memory and Photonic Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents trap‐programmable Ruddlesden–Popper perovskite nanocrystals for ultralong‐lived optical memory and photonic synapses. Layer‐controlled octahedral distortion modulates trap depth and carrier‐storage kinetics, enabling persistent luminescence beyond 5000 s at room temperature.

Quasi-2DH Modeling of the Shoreline Evolution Around an Offshore Breakwater

open access: yesJournal of Eta Maritime Science
In the present study, a quasi-two-dimensional (2D) numerical model developed to model shoreline evolution under wave action near various coastal defense implementations is applied to laboratory experiments on shoreline evolution around an offshore ...

Facile One‐Pot Solvothermal Synthesis of Bi2Te3 Nanoplate/Te Nanorod Composites with High Seebeck Coefficients for Flexible Film‐Based Thermoelectric Generators

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A one‐pot solvothermal reaction yields Bi2Te3 nanoplate/Te nanorod composites, in which the antimony precursor regulates crystallite size without lattice incorporation. Drop‐cast flexible films reach Seebeck coefficients of −127 and 323 µV K−1 at 393 K, and a flexible thermoelectric generator produces 6.2 mV at a temperature difference of 5.6 K ...

Surf and swash zone hydrodynamics forced by oblique, monochromatic waves in a wave basin with a smooth, impermeable beach

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
Beaches are coastal features that offer economic benefits, ecosystem services, and natural barriers against flooding. Sustainable management of beaches requires a firm understanding of hydrodynamics and sediment transport processes.

Estimation of Beginning Points of Cross-Shore Sandbars Using Artificial Neural Network [PDF]

open access: yesAerul şi Apa: Componente ale Mediului
Sediment transport is critical for the design of coastal structures. In this paper, beginning points of cross-shore sandbars predicted using artificial neural network (ANN), multi-linear regression (MLR), and Quadratic-Multivariable Regression (Q-MR ...

Cross-Shore Intertidal Bar Behavior along the Dutch Coast: Laser Measurements and Conceptual Model

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
Intertidal bars are naturally occurring morphological features along the waterline of sandy beaches. Present quantitative knowledge on intertidal bar behavior is limited, due to the scarcity of data resources and the limitations of traditional survey ...

Thermoradiative Diodes Using Black Phosphorus van der Waals Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate thermoradiative diodes based on black phosphorus (bP${\rm bP}$)/molybdenum disulfide (MoS2$MoS_2$) van der Waals heterojunctions which generate power by exchanging photons with a colder environment. The bandgap of black phosphorus is well positioned to exchange photons with outer space through the mid‐wave atmospheric window.

Crease‐Encoded Soft Origami Chambers: A Unified Design‐to‐Fabrication Framework for Low‐Pressure Pneumatic Joints

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Origami turns a single silicone chamber into three different soft fluidic actuators. Crease angles alone decide whether it elongates, bends, or twists, and the fully folded chambers are cast monolithically in one day. Below 15 kPa, they reach 268% axial stretch, 72° bending, and 55° twist—no strain‐limiting layers, no rigid reinforcements, no vacuum ...

Observations and Modelling of Shoreface Nourishment Behaviour

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
Shoreface nourishments are commonly applied for coastal maintenance, but their behaviour is not well understood. Bathymetric data of 19 shoreface nourishments located at alongshore uniform sections of the Dutch coast were therefore analyzed and used to ...

From Agro‐Industrial Waste to Functional Packaging Using Antimicrobial and Mechanically Reinforced Starch Foams With Melon Seed and Rosemary

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Agro‐industrial waste was upcycled into biodegradable starch foams reinforced with melon seed and rosemary flours, yielding sustainable food packaging with enhanced mechanical performance, selective antimicrobial activity, and rapid biodegradation. ABSTRACT The demand for sustainable alternatives to petroleum‐based packaging has promoted starch‐based ...
