Pain and meaning - religious interpretations of pain Christian metamorphoses [PDF]

open access: yesTemida
The early Christian understanding of pain was shaped by faith in Jesus Christ as the deliverer from death, pain, and suffering, which is also evident in early Christian symbolism and iconography.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Modeling of Six Openers for Seeding Machines, Cross-Shaped, T-Inverse, U-Shaped, V-Shaped, V-Shaped with Two Plates and Tulip-Shaped [PDF]

open access: yesBiomechanism and Bioenergy Research
The use of cultivation techniques that can properly prepare the seed bed and plant the seeds at an almost uniform depth has become necessary more than ever. In this research, the plane sitting test was used for modeling.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

La Croix et son Lieu consacré dans l'église, une lecture mystagogique de l'espace ecclésial / The Cross and its Consecrated Place in the Church, a Mystagogic Reading of Ecclesial Space [PDF]

open access: yesAnastasis: Research in Medieval Culture and Art, 2015
This paper discusses the place of the cross in ecclesial spaces in context of western medieval Christendom based on the study of the three liturgical arrangements: the pergula/templon, the altar of the Cross and the trabs doxalis.
