The Impact on U.K. Acquirers of Domestic, Cross-border, Public and Private Acquisitions [PDF]

open access: yes
We examine the announcement and post-acquisition share returns of 4,000 acquisitions by U.K. public firms during 1984-1998. We include acquisitions of domestic and cross-border targets, and of both publicly quoted and privately held targets.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Driving Mechanisms and Spatial Variations of Soil C:N:P Stoichiometry in Desert Steppe of the Ili River Basin, Northwest China

open access: yesAgriculture
Soil stoichiometric characteristics, as sensitive indicators of soil nutrient supply capacity and ecosystem stability, have emerged as a frontier research focus in biogeochemical cycling and ecological studies.

Demand and Distance: Evidence on Cross-Border Shopping [PDF]

open access: yes
While many studies have documented deviations from the Law of One Price in international settings, evidence is scarce on the extent to which consumers take advantage of price differentials and engage in cross border shopping. We use data from 287 Swedish

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Nutrigenomic insights and cardiovascular benefits of blackberry (Rubus ulmifolius Schott.) and mugwort (Artemisia campestris L.)

open access: yesExperimental Physiology
Blackberry (Rubus ulmifolius Schott) and mugwort (Artemisia campestris L.) are plants traditionally used to treat various pathologies, including hypertension. The vasodilatory and hypotensive effects of blackberry were investigated through experiments in

The modified mRNA vaccine protects immunocompromised AG129 mice from lethal challenge and multi-tissue infection by Zika virus

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections
The multiple epidemics of Zika virus (ZIKV) posed a substantial threat to public health. Clinical evidence suggests that ZIKV could break through the blood–brain, blood-placenta, and blood-testis barriers, leading to severe outcomes such as congenital ...
