Stiffness of cross-laminated timber (CLT) wall-to-floor-to-wall connections in platform-type structures

open access: yes, 2021
Wall-to-floor-to-wall connections are important for the performance of multi-storey, platform-type cross-laminated timber (CLT) structures. Their stiffness properties are studied by means of a numerical model, which was previously validated with ...

Numerical study on the impact of wood characteristics on the strain state of steel–timber composite beams

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science
The bending behaviour of steel–timber composite beams is not only determined by the bending deformation, but also by the shear deformations of the shear connectors and the transverse layers of cross-laminated timber.

Recycled cross-laminated timber as a low environmental impact alternative to virgin material: Latvia case study

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Building with wood has become more popular and so has the circularity concept and carbon storage in products. This study aims to analyse the life cycle impacts of cross-laminated timber (CLT) recycling.

Layerwise theory-based finite elements for static and dynamic analysis of CLT-concrete composites with partial shear connection [PDF]

open access: yesGrađevinski Materijali i Konstrukcije
The paper presents a formulation of layered finite elements (based on Reddy's full-layerwise-theory) for static and dynamic analysis of cross-laminated-timber concrete composites (CCC).

Diagonal compression of Cross-Laminated Timber

open access: yes, 2016
Twelve blocks of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) were built, tested and simulated. Three types of blocks with different laminate directions in the middle/second layers were used: 0/30/0, 0/45/0 and 0/90/0. Simulations with three-dimensional quadratic orthotropic linear elastic finite elements were conducted.

Mechanical in-plane joints between cross laminated timber panels

open access: yes, 2010
The construction process of a cross laminated timber building is highly influenced, in terms of time and cost, by the system chosen to joint wall and floor panels.

A Comprehensive Statistical Analysis of Multi-Story Timber Residential Buildings in Finland (1995-2025)

open access: yesProceedings of the International Conference of Contemporary Affairs in Architecture and Urbanism-ICCAUA
By the end of 2024, Finland had approximately 1.55 million buildings, excluding holiday residences and agricultural structures, with residential buildings accounting for nearly 65% of the total gross floor area.

Moment-resisting timber frames combined with cross laminated timber walls for multistorey timber buildings

open access: yes
The increase in the world population results in higher urbanization, which poses a significant challenge due to the substantial contribution of construction industry to greenhouse gas emissions.

PROBABILISTIC DESIGN OF FLEXURAL CROSS-LAMINATED TIMBER STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS

open access: yesInternational Journal for Computational Civil and Structural Engineering
The article presents a probabilistic approach to the design of flexural elements made of cross-laminated timber (CLT) as one of the promising materials for sustainable construction.
