On the architectural qualities of cross laminated timber

2010
In resent years wood as a building material has gain renewed focus and with that new production methods and wooden products have been developed. One of these products is Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) which, by means of high-technology production and a distinctive construction with layers of lamellae glued together crosswise, possesses structural ...

The Hygroscopic Warping of Cross-Laminated Timber

2010
This chapter focuses on moisture-induced deformations in three-layered cross-laminated timber with a symmetrical build-up, where the fibre direction of the middle layer is oriented perpendicular to that of the outer layers. Dimensional stability, i.e. the ability to resist warping, is of main interest for the application of such wood panels.

Self-extinguishment of cross-laminated timber

2016
Cross-laminated timber, or CLT, is receiving attention for its potential use in tall buildings. As a combustible material, one of the challenges for the construction of these buildings is the fire risk that results from its use in the structure. Unprotected CLT can burn along with the fuel load present in a compartment.

Cross laminated timber panels to strengthen wood floors

2008
Cross laminated timber panels are generally used to build walls and floor slabs of wood houses, but they have interesting mechanical characteristics to be used for strengthening ancient wood floors in restoration interventions. In particular they can be connected to the existing wood beams to have a floor diaphragm effect under seismic actions.

Application of laminated and cross-laminated timber in reconstruction and new construction

Building constructions. Theory and Practice
The article is devoted to the actual problem of restoration of construction objects of Ukraine destroyed as a result of military actions. The issue of manufacturing and effective application of cross-laminated timber panels and other products made of laminated timber for use in recon-struction, restoration of damaged construction objects and new ...
