Self-extinguishment of cross-laminated timber
2016Cross-laminated timber, or CLT, is receiving attention for its potential use in tall buildings. As a combustible material, one of the challenges for the construction of these buildings is the fire risk that results from its use in the structure. Unprotected CLT can burn along with the fuel load present in a compartment.

Cross laminated timber panels to strengthen wood floors
2008Cross laminated timber panels are generally used to build walls and floor slabs of wood houses, but they have interesting mechanical characteristics to be used for strengthening ancient wood floors in restoration interventions. In particular they can be connected to the existing wood beams to have a floor diaphragm effect under seismic actions.

Buckling of cross laminated timber walls
2016In this paper, the linear buckling of Cross Laminated Timber walls is investigated. A 3D numerical study using finite-elements is presented for several Cross Laminated Timber geometries, ply configurations and boundary conditions. First, it is shown that critical buckling loads are close to the material failure load which proves the necessity of a ...

HARDWOOD CROSS-LAMINATED TIMBER PRODUCTION
The building construction industry is experiencing a shift towards more sustainable materials such as Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT). In the U.S., CLT is predominantly manufactured from softwoods such as southern yellow pine, of which about 60% of the demand are sourced domestically.openaire +1 more source
Aesthetic Qualities of Cross Laminated Timber
2012The common thread through this thesis is the aim of bringing the aesthetic, poetic and sensuous qualities of materials into focus. This is done with the belief that materials are more than merely the means of construction, i.e. more than a building system.
