Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

Estudo da densidade de ligações Cruzadas em géis superabsorventes obtidos do acetato de celulose Study of the crosslinking density in superabsorbent gels obtained from cellulose acetate

open access: yesPolímeros, 2013
Neste trabalho foram realizadas sínteses de géis derivados de acetato de celulose (AC) com grau de substituição (GS) 2,5 por intermédio de reações de reticulação via esterificação.

Crosslinked polymer chains with excluded volume: A new class of branched polymers?

open access: yes, 1997
In this note microgels with and without excluded volume interactions are considered. Based on earlier exact computations on Gaussian mircogels, which are formed by self-crosslinking (with $M$ crosslinks) of polymer chains with chain length $N$ Flory type

Transcription-translation coupling: direct interactions of RNA polymerase with ribosomes and ribosomal subunits. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In prokaryotes, RNA polymerase and ribosomes can bind concurrently to the same RNA transcript, leading to the functional coupling of transcription and translation.

Atmospheric Pressure Non-Equilibrium Plasma as a Green Tool to Crosslink Gelatin Nanofibers

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Electrospun gelatin nanofibers attract great interest as a natural biomaterial for cartilage and tendon repair despite their high solubility in aqueous solution, which makes them also difficult to crosslink by means of chemical agents.

Microporous Microgel Assemblies Facilitating the Recruitment and Osteogenic Differentiation of Progenitor Cells for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
There is a significant need for biomaterials with well‐defined stability and bioactivity to support tissue regeneration. In this study, we developed a tunable microgel platform that enables the decoupling of stiffness from porosity, thereby promoting bone regeneration.

Stable covalently photo-cross-linked poly(ionic liquid) membrane with gradient pore size

open access: yes, 2017
An imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquid) is covalently cross-linked via UV light-induced thiolene (click) chemistry to yield a stable porous polyelectrolyte membrane with gradients of crosslink density and pore size distribution along its cross-section ...

Stabilization of PVA/Chitosan/TiO2 Nanofiber Membrane with Heat Treatment and Glutaraldehyde Crosslink

open access: yes, 2018
PVA/chitosan/TiO2 nanofiber membrane have been prepared by electrospinning method. PVA/Chitosan/TiO2 nanofibers are poor stability in water. In this paper, the stabilization of PVA/chitosan/TiO2 nanofiber membrane was improved by heat treatment and GA ...

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...
