Fracture of Elastomeric Materials by Crosslink Failure
If an elastomeric material is subjected to sufficiently large deformations, it eventually fractures. There are two typical micromechanisms of failure in such materials: chain scission and crosslink failure.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Innovative Water-Insoluble Edible Film Based on Biocatalytic Crosslink of Gelatin Rich in Glutamine
Gelatin is a promising candidate for making bioplastic film; however, the water soluble property has limited its applications. Here, we have successfully fabricated a water-insoluble gelatin film with the assistance of biocatalysis.

Disordered Heteropolymers with Crosslinks - Phase Diagram and Conformational Transitions
We study the phase behavior of random heteropolymers (RHPs) with quenched cross-links, a novel polymer class of technological and biological relevance, and show the possible occurrence of freezing with few chain conformations sampled.

AbstractCrosslinking is an essential architecture for polymers to improve mechanical and thermal properties and to form three‐dimensional (3D) structures. Although conventional synthetic crosslinkers usually only serve as bridges between different polymeric chains, biological crosslinkers are multifunctional.

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Devulcanization of Natural Rubber in Composites with Distinct Crosslink Densities by Twin-Screw Extruder [PDF]
In this study, the effects of the devulcanization process realized by an intermeshing co-rotating twin-screw extruder (ICTSE) on three vulcanized Natural Rubber (NR) composites with different crosslink densities (CD) have been investigated. The extrusion

Natural rubber/styrene-butadiene rubber blends prepared by solution mixing: Influence of vulcanization temperature using a Semi-EV sulfur curing system on the microstructural properties [PDF]
Blends of natural rubber (NR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) were prepared by solution mixing and vulcanized with sulfur and accelerator in a Semi-EV system at 433 K and 443 K in order to study the vulcanization kinetic and the influence of ...
