Electrostatically Reinforced Double Network Granular Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electrostatically reinforced double network granular hydrogels (DNGHs) with cartilage‐like fracture energy are introduced. An empirical model predicts the composition‐dependent fracture energy based on dissipation zone size, contact area, and inter‐particle adhesion energy. Thanks to their granular structure and the inter‐particle attraction, the DNGHs

Tunable Latency of Hydrosilylation Catalyst by Ligand Density on Nanoparticle Supports

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 135, Issue 5, January 26, 2023., 2023
The density of norbornene ligands on silica nanoparticles alters the activity of a Pt hydrosilylation catalyst. Latency of hydrosilylation at high ligand density occurs despite the non‐inhibitory behavior of the free ligand and establishes the non‐innocent role of functionalized inorganic supports.

Mitigating Strain Localization via Stabilized Phase Boundaries for Strengthening Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Strain localization along phase or grain boundaries leads to crack initiation typical of alloys. In multi‐principal element alloys, the enamel‐like microstructure is stabilized by phase boundaries. This facilitates trans‐phase migration of semi‐atomic surfaces and provides sufficient plastic space for dislocation‐mediated deformation.

High‐Performance Polymer‐derived Ceramics in LCD 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study highlights the potential of silicon oxycarbide‐based formulations for producing polymer‐derived ceramics with superior properties via LCD 3D printing. VMM‐based ceramics demonstrate a remarkable 50‐fold increase in compressive strength (up to 17 MPa) compared to SPR‐684, along with exceptional high‐temperature survivability (up to 1500 °C ...

Electrically Controlled Metal‐Insulator Heterogeneous Evolution for Infrared Switch and Perfect Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electrically controlled optical switch and perfect absorption are achieved in the long wavelength infrared range by modulating the proton‐mediated metal‐insulator phase mixture of a single layer of SmNiO3 on an opaque sapphire substrate. Such an infrared switch is reversible and tunable over a broad temperature and wavelength range, which could shed ...

Exciton‐Photon Coupling Microcavity as a Selective Biosensing Platform for Nonlocal Terahertz Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The nonlocal metamaterial, characterized by strong light‐matter coupling, can be integrated with functionalized colloidal gold and monoclonal tag antibodies to enable rapid multidimensional detection and identification of total prostate‐specific antigen in complex environmental solutions.

Gram‐Scale Preparation of Tri‐Coordinated Single‐Atom Catalysts for CO2 Electrolysis in Large‐Scale Membrane Electrode Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A low‐cost and tri‐coordinated SAC (g‐NiN3) is prepared in gram‐scale using metal ionic liquid [Bmim]2[NiCl4] as precursors. The g‐NiN3 achieves an excellent overall performance for eCO2‐to‐CO in a large‐scale MEA reactor. The overall performance in g‐NiN3 is superior to that of commercial Ag nanopowders, and manifests as one of the state‐of‐the‐art ...
