A comparative study of crossover in differential evolution

Journal of Heuristics, 2010
In order to understand the role of crossover in differential evolution, theoretical analysis and comparative study of crossover in differential evolution are presented in this paper. Two new crossover methods, namely consecutive binomial crossover and non-consecutive exponential crossover, are designed.

A study of dimensional crossover in multilayers

Physica C: Superconductivity, 1993
Abstract The superconductivity of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 PrBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 ( YBCO PBCO ) multilayers has been studied under parallel and perpendicular magnetic fields H ranging from 0 to 7 T. The resistive transitions of the selected [ YBCO PBCO ]s of 48 A 100 A and 48 A 12 A ...

Testing Crossover Studies for Carryover Effects

Angiology, 1989
For the study of cardiovascular disease, for instance, hypertension and angina pectoris, properly de signed crossover studies are to be preferred over parallel-design stud ies. Many statisticians now propose that these studies should always be tested for carryover effects.

A Study on the Utility of Parametric Uniform Crossover for Adaptation of Crossover Operator

2012
The parametric uniform crossover is a general form of the uniform crossover operator by which the swapping probability of each locus could be controlled. The swap probability could control the amount of disruption of high order hyper planes. Several variations of selecto-recombinative genetic algorithms are proposed for controlling the swap probability

Effect of Crossover on the Statistical Power of Randomized Studies

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1989
Randomized studies involving long-term follow-up are vulnerable to the effects of unplanned crossover. In surgical studies, such crossover usually occurs when control patients become more symptomatic and undergo operation. In several large studies of coronary bypass grafting, crossover ranged from 25% to 38%.

A comparative study of modified crossover operators

2015 Third International Conference on Image Information Processing (ICIIP), 2015
Genetic Algorithms (GA) are based on natural evolution theory called ‘Darwin's Theory of Evolution’. In the area of optimization and search problems the genetic algorithm can work efficiently and give better results. This paper presents traditional single point, two point and uniform crossover operators with cyclic technique to solve the Travelling ...

Peak Pressures: Crossover Study of Timolol and Latanoprost

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2003
Purpose To compare the diurnal efficacy and action on peak intraocular pressures (IOP) of 0.005% latanoprost and 0.5% timolol as primary therapy in 60 eyes having dark brown irides with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Methods A prospective, comparative, observer-masked, crossover, interventional trial including the mean of both eyes of 30 patients ...

Dynamical Temperature Study for Spin-Crossover

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
Making use of the Rugh's dynamical and micro‐canonical approach to temperature, we study the classical model of three dimensional spin‐crossover compounds. These compounds are characterized by magnetic ions that can be in a high‐spin or low‐spin state. We consider the case of diamagnetic low‐spin state which are appropriate for Fe‐Co compounds.

A study of crossover operators in genetic programming

1991
Holland's analysis of the sources of power of genetic algorithms has served as guidance for the applications of genetic algorithms for more than 15 years. The technique of applying a recombination operator (crossover) to a population of individuals is a key to that power. Neverless, there have been a number of contradictory results concerning crossover
