Optical crosswind profiling system

Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1987
A wind-profiling system has been developed that uses zero-mean transmitting and receiving filters to shape and analyze the intensity scintillation produced by refractive-index irregularities along the light path. The method is a variation of a technique first proposed by Lee.

Field Testing Of A Crosswind Scintillometer

SPIE Proceedings, 1989
Field tests have been performed on a prototype spatially-averaged filter scintillometer designed to measure wind components transverse to an optical path. Unlike previous scintillometers, the spatially-averaged filter design peaks weighting functions at five segments along the optical path, producing simultaneous cross-path wind readings from these ...

An Investigation of an Inclined Jet in a Crosswind

Aeronautical Quarterly, 1977
SummaryWind-tunnel experiments were conducted to determine the interference characteristics of an inclined turbulent jet exhausting from a flat plate into a turbulent subsonic crosswind. The jet was not yawed with respect to the undisturbed free stream.
