Layered Intelligence for Agent-based Crowd Simulation

SIMULATION, 2009
We adapt a scalable layered intelligence technique from the game industry, for agent-based crowd simulation. We extend this approach for planned movements, pursuance of assignable goals, and avoidance of dynamically introduced obstacles/threats as well as congestions, while keeping the system scalable with the number of agents.

Intelligent Video for Protecting Crowded Sports Venues

2009 Sixth IEEE International Conference on Advanced Video and Signal Based Surveillance, 2009
Intelligent video in urban settings can be challenging due the presence of crowds, clutter, poor camera placement and continuously changing light conditions. The surveillance of sports venues is particularly difficult, because thousands of people can enter or exit a venue in short periods of time.

Crowd Intelligence-Based Interactive Creation Platform

2019 IEEE 19th International Conference on Software Quality, Reliability and Security Companion (QRS-C), 2019
The Internet-based crowd intelligence collects abilities of lots of users to make decisions rather than single professionals or full automatic expert systems. This paper proposes a crowd intelligence-based creation platform that helps a group of users collaboratively to create an artifact as well as supports the single user to find inspirations using ...

Swarm Intelligence for Detecting Interesting Events in Crowded Environments

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2015
This paper focuses on detecting and localizing anomalous events in videos of crowded scenes, i.e., divergences from a dominant pattern. Both motion and appearance information are considered, so as to robustly distinguish different kinds of anomalies, for a wide range of scenarios. A newly introduced concept based on swarm theory, histograms of oriented

An Experimental in Rule-based Crowd Behavior for Intelligent Games

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL ON Advances in Information Sciences and Service Sciences, 2009
Today video games and animated movies and robotics involve individual and collective character behavior. To this end, behavior algorithms are studied to identify underlying principles of how information flows between the characters and research studies consider animal behavior.

Using Ambient Intelligence to Control Aggression in Crowds

2011 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conferences on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology, 2011
During events that involve large crowds (e.g., demonstrations or sports events), large-scale aggressive outbursts are not uncommon. Since these outbursts are usually triggered by relatively small stimuli, and the amount of people involved may grow very quickly, their emergence is often highly unpredictable and difficult to control.
