A High‐Precision Dynamic Movement Recognition Algorithm Using Multimodal Biological Signals for Human–Machine Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
This article describes a multimodal fusion data acquisition and processing system about electromyography for dynamic movement recognition and bioelectrical impedance for key posture recognition. In addition, a new dynamic–static fusion algorithm strategy is designed.

Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution Activity of MoS2 Through Solid Solution Modification of Its Edge Sites With Ruthenium

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Modulating the edge sites of molybdenum disulfide significantly boosts hydrogen production. By depositing Ru to form an edge‐coordinated solid solution, we accelerate water dissociation and shift the hydrogen evolution reaction pathway to Volmer–Tafel.

The Collective Power of Bacteria as a Blueprint for Emergent Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Small cells, powerful collectives. Bacteria demonstrate how sophisticated behaviors can emerge from many simple individuals working together. We explore the remarkable world of bacterial communities and the mechanisms that underpin their complex emergent behaviors, enabling impressive adaptability, robustness, and responsiveness to changing ...

Impact of Threading State on the Mechanics of γ‐Cyclodextrin–Pyrene Gels

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Tuning the threading state of discrete γ‐cyclodextrin (γ‐CD)–pyrene pseudorotaxane crosslinkers controls gel topology and ring mobility. The resulting doubly threaded slide‐ring networks exhibit solvent‐switchable dissipative dynamics, high extensibility, rate‐dependent mechanics, and low hysteresis, revealing how crosslink topology governs macroscopic

Diversity and Crowd-out: A Theory of Cold-Glow Giving [PDF]

open access: yes
Research has repeatedly shown that altruism is lower in diverse communities. Can this phenomenon be counteracted by government intervention? To answer this question, this paper introduces diversity to the canonical model of "warm glow" giving.

Causal analysis of trade loss from pathogens: A global study of foot and mouth disease impacts on meat exports

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Our general interest is in global trade loss from livestock pathogens, specifically exports. We adopt a causal inference approach that considers animal disease outbreaks over time as non‐staggered binary treatments with the potential for switching in (infection) and out of treatment (recovery) within the sample period. The outcome evolution of

Soft Interactions, Rather Than Crowder Size, Determine Deviations From Arrhenius‐Like Kinetics of Phosphofructokinase‐1

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Our study investigates macromolecular crowding effects in the Arrhenius‐like and non‐Arrhenius temperature regimes of the human platelet isoform of phosphofructokinase‐1 (PFKP). The results reveal how PFKP maintains temperature robustness of catalytic activity in differently crowded environments.
