The synthesis and fluorescence properties of novel chromenone-crown ethers

open access: yes, 2010
o-Dihyroxy-3-phenylchromenone derivatives, namely, 6,7-dihydroxy-3-(3',4'-dimethoxyphenyl)chromenone and 6,7-dimethoxy-3-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)chromenone, were obtained from 2,4,5-trihydroxybenzaldehyde/3,4-dimethoxyphenylacetic acid

Synthesis of functionalized crown ethers and cation complexation by crown ethers

open access: yes, 1983
Several crown ethers with pendant ionizable groups such as carboxylic and phosphonic groups were synthesized from corresponding hydroxy crown ethers. Efficient and inexpensive synthetic methods were developed to produce diphenols directly from catechol ...

Thiolate Salt Mediated Dynamic Silyl Ether Exchanges for Polymer Network Design and Deconstruction

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
This work introduces thiolate salts as mediators for dynamic silyl ether exchange. This platform enables the synthesis of reprocessable covalent adaptable polymer networks (CANs) and allows for sterically controlled, and tunable deconstruction of silyl ether‐containing thermosets.

Conjugated Polymers Engineered for Flexible/Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This review highlights glass transition temperature (Tg) as the central parameter linking molecular structure to device performance in conjugated polymers. By tuning backbone rigidity, side‐chain architecture, and dynamic bonding, Tg governs the balance between π–π stacking–enabled charge transport and mechanical compliance.

White light emitting molecular logic gates

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
White light emitting smart molecules with Boolean logic computing ability are surveyed. Abstract White light emitting (WLE) materials are of considerable interest with commercial and societal applications in video displays and lighting devices. A characteristic property of WLE materials is the luminescence profile spanning from 380 to 700 nm.

Advances in Unconventional and Sustainable Synthetic Approaches to Benzopyran Scaffolds

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
This review provides a comprehensive and critical analysis of low‐impact synthetic methodologies reported in the last 8 years (2018–2026) for the construction of benzopyran‐derived scaffolds, such as coumarins, flavones, chromones, chromenes, and chromanes. The benzopyran scaffold is a versatile family of heterocycles found in a wide range of bioactive

Understanding the Dynamics of Mechanically Interlocked Molecular Systems via Metadynamics Simulations

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
This Personal Account discusses how molecular simulations help uncover motion, shuttling mechanisms, and kinetics in mechanically interlocked molecules such as rotaxanes and catenanes. Mechanically interlocked molecules, such as rotaxanes and catenanes, display complex internal dynamics and reciprocal motions that are central to their use as artificial
