Cruciform structures and functions

Quarterly Reviews of Biophysics, 1996
In this paper, a structure-function analysis of B-DNA self-fitting is reviewed in the light of recent oligonucleotide crystal structures. Their crystal packings provided a high-resolution view of B-DNA helices closely and specifically fitted by groove-backbone interaction, a natural and biologically relevant manner to assemble B-DNA helices.

Benzobisimidazole Cruciform Fluorophores

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2015
A series of 11 cross-conjugated cruciform fluorophores based on a benzobisimidazole nucleus has been synthesized and characterized. Like in their previously reported benzobisoxazole counterparts, the HOMOs of these new fluorophores are localized along the vertical bisethynylbenzene axes, while their LUMOs remain relatively delocalized across the ...

Kinetics of Cruciform Formation and Stability of Cruciform Structure in Superhelical DNA

Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 1984
This is a study of the kinetics of formation of a cruciform structure from the longest palindromic sequence in plasmid pAO3 DNA. DNA was prepared so as to be free of cruciforms even in topoisomers whose negative superhelicity was great enough to induce cruciform formation.

The Cruciform Faculty

2016
How do Christian higher education institutions orient new faculty members to their role on a Christian campus? How do they lead faculty members toward a deeper understanding of the Christian dimension of their place in higher education? Bible Colleges, Christian Universities, and Seminaries need a resource that can be provided to faculty members or be ...

Cross-Conjugated Cruciform Fluorophores

Accounts of Chemical Research, 2009
In optoelectronic devices, chromophores can be designed at the molecular level to create materials with properties desired for advanced applications. Organic fluorophores in particular can be constructed with macroscopic properties that arise from two distinct contributions: (i) the collective impact of the molecular backbone and substituents and (ii ...

The Cruciform Imaginary

2019
Abstract This chapter explores the role of social imaginaries in revealing the tragic, justifying responses to the tragic, and patterning legitimate courses of action in the face of the tragic. It examines the rise of religious imaginaries, in particular, as frameworks for environmental thought and governance.

Cruciform position for trauma resuscitation

Emergency Medicine Australasia, 2017
AbstractMultiply injured patients represent a particularly demanding subgroup of trauma patients as they require urgent simultaneous clinical assessments using physical examination, ultrasound and invasive monitoring together with critical management, including tracheal intubation, thoracostomies and central venous access. Concurrent access to multiple

Cruciform Ecumenism

2019
The truth claims of Christianity appear compromised by the division of Christ’s followers into different denominations. What keeps Christians separated, retreating to their corners labeled Catholic, Orthodox, and various types of Protestant? Elizabeth Smith Woodard accounts for Christian disunity in terms of ecclesiology, episcopacy, and apostolicity ...

Cruciform structures in supercoiled DNA

Nature, 1981
Specific sites in supercoiled pVH51 and pBR322 DNAs are cleaved by single-strand specific nucleases. These sites are in the loops of potential cruciform structures.

Cruciform‐Silica Hybrid Materials

Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2009
AbstractSilica scaffolding: By employing functionalized mesoporous SBA‐15 silica, novel fluorescent cruciform‐silica hybrid materials are generated which preserve the desirable solution properties of cruciforms in the solid state for potential use in sensory schemes.magnified imagePreserving the solution properties of functional fluorophores upon ...
