Thermogravimetric kinetics of crude glycerol [PDF]

open access: yesBioresource Technology, 2009
The pyrolysis of the crude glycerol from a biodiesel production plant was investigated by thermogravimetry coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The main gaseous products are discussed, and the thermogravimetric kinetics derived. There were four distinct phases in the pyrolysis process of the crude glycerol.

New trends on crude glycerol purification: A review

open access: yesFuel, 2023
The increasing effort of the global community to reduce dependency on fossil fuels led to an increase in the production of biodiesel and therefore the oversupply of crude glycerol. Different steps are necessary to ensure this oversupply of highly impure, waste-based crude glycerol (approximately 680,000 tonnes by 2024) can be made suitable for ...

Biochemical and molecular characterization of a novel glycerol dehydratase from Klebsiella pneumoniae 2e with high tolerance against crude glycerol impurities

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels and Bioproducts, 2023
Background The direct bioconversion of crude glycerol, a byproduct of biodiesel production, into 1,3-propanediol by microbial fermentation constitutes a remarkably promising value-added applications.

Direct production of polyhydroxybutyrate and alginate from crude glycerol by Azotobacter vinelandii using atmospheric nitrogen

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
While biodiesel is drawing attention as an eco-friendly fuel, the use of crude glycerol, a byproduct of the fuel production process, has increasingly become a concern to be addressed.

Corrosion Resistance of Steel S355MC in Crude Glycerol

open access: yesTechnologies, 2023
Corrosion is the degradation of materials in oxidizing environments. In aqueous solutions, it is initiated by the surface reaction of the metallic material with the surrounding electrolyte. The corrosion rate of metals can be significantly reduced by the

Elevating Phospholipids Production Yarrowia lipolytica from Crude Glycerol

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022
Phospholipids (PLs) are a class of lipids with many proven biological functions. They are commonly used in lipid replacement therapy to enrich cell membranes damaged in chronic neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, or aging processes. Due to their amphipathic nature, PLs have been widely used in food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical products as natural ...

The quality of crude glycerine influences the fermentation and nutritive value of Piatã grass silage

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2020
We aimed to evaluate the effects of crude glycerine purity and levels of glycerol on the fermentative profile, microorganisms counting, and nutritional value of Piatã grass silage. The experiment was carried out in a 3×3+1 completely randomized factorial
