Suitability of crude glycerol as a substrate for biobutanol production
Glycerol is a natural polyol formed as a major by-product during biodiesel production. The use of glycerol, which is uniquely utilised by Clostridium pasteurianum, for butanol production is highly promising but requires a thorough understanding and ...

Crude glycerol gasification in a fixed bed gasifier
Abstract The purpose of this work was the study of crude glycerol gasification, using steam as oxidant. The results were compared with those obtained for technical glycerol gasification. The producer gas composition and the gasification parameters were evaluated.

Effects of centrifugal stress on cell disruption and glycerol leakage from Dunaliella salina [PDF]
Dunaliella salina accumulates large amounts of intracellular glycerol in response to the increases in salt concentration, thus is a potential source for producing fuel grade glycerol as an alternative to biodiesel-derived crude glycerol. D.

Discovery that deadenylation, rather than transcription, acts as the rate‐limiting step for developmental timing in a plant pathogen. Evidence that P‐body integrity and mRNA decay are mechanistically coupled to rapid cellular differentiation under environmental stress. Identification of Pan2‐Pan3 as a pathogen‐specific “meta‐virulence factor” absent in

Two macromolecular resistance‐reversal agents (MRRAs)—linear (MRRAL) and nanostructured (MRRAN) polymers were fabricated by integrating DOTA motifs into tunable polycationic scaffolds. MRRAs exhibit superior antibacterial potency once combined with meropenem (MEM) through (i) bacterial membrane disruption via localized cationic charge and ...

Chromosome segregation in Streptococcus pneumoniae depends on RocS, a bitopic protein whose membrane‐anchoring mechanisms were unclear. Using NMR and AFM, this study reveals that the widely conserved RocS anchor binds to membranes via a conserved kink‐helix motif which inserts into lipid nanodomains.
