Surface oxidation of rubber crumb with ozone

Polymer Degradation and Stability, 2010
Rubber crumb derived from the grinding of used truck tread and tyres is used as a low cost filler in rubber compounds based on diene rubber. In order to expand its application to other fields, the surface modification of the rubber crumb could be an interesting and feasible solution.

Plankton filtration with compressible crumb rubber packs

Chemosphere, 2011
The experiments described provide insight into the feasibility of using compressible particulate packs to filter live plankton. The pore constriction sizes are controlled by subjecting the filter pack to isotropic confinement, thereby allowing for: (1) enhanced filtration upon confinement and (2) enhanced unclogging upon relaxation.

Effect of Crumb Rubber Modifier Dissolution on Storage Stability of Crumb Rubber–Modified Asphalt

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2013
Crumb rubber–modified asphalt (CRMA) extensively suffers from high-temperature storage instability. Because of the higher density of the crumb rubber modifier (CRM) particles, they settle down to the bottom of storage tanks and cause variation between physical properties of the top and bottom samples.

Influence of Crumb Rubber Concentration on the Rheological Behavior of a Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen

Energy & Fuels, 2005
Bitumen is widely used in construction. Its applications go from binder for road asphalts to built-up roofing membranes and other waterproofing uses. The use of crumb tire rubber as a binder modifier may contribute to solving a waste disposal problem and to improving the quality of road pavements.

Effects of water activation of crumb rubber on the properties of crumb rubber-modified binders

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2009
Hot water activation of crumb rubber has been suggested as a method of improving compatibility between crumb rubber and asphalt binder. This procedure removes light oil fractions present in the crumb rubber particles, thus decreasing segregation occurring between rubber particles and binder.

Crumb Rubber in cold recycled bituminous mixes: comparison between traditional Crumb Rubber and Cryogenic Crumb

2014
Today recycling is one of the most innovative and interesting techniques for the rehabilitation of destressed road pavements. In recent years the increased interest in this process, has led to the development of various alternative methods for the recovery and the reuse of road bituminous materials.

Fracture behavior of crumb rubber‐filled elastomers

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1999
The fracture behavior of a crumb rubber-filled elastomer was observed in optical micrographs. It was found that the failure started from the surface of the unfilled samples. The failure, however, started from a cavity around a crumb in the crumb-filled samples.

A crumb rubber modified syntactic foam

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008
Abstract In this study, the impact response and residual strength of a crumb rubber modified syntactic foam, which contained up to 20% by volume of crumb rubbers, were investigated. The foam had a hybrid microstructure bridging over several length scales.

Durability of crumbed rubber concrete /

2022
Thesis (PhD(Civil Engineering))--University of South Australia, 2022. Includes bibliographical references (pages 243-251) Rubber particles made from end-of-life tyres have gained popularity as a potential replacement for aggregate in concrete. All researchers found that rubber particles reduced the compressive strength of the concrete.
