Risk‐Targeted Seismic Design Maps for Mexico

ABSTRACT Risk‐targeted seismic design maps for Mexico are presented. Risk‐targeted approach establishes an acceptable risk level, measured with the annual collapse probability, to determine seismic design coefficients. Seismic design maps are calculated for an annual probability of collapse of 1 × 10−4 and 2 × 10−4.

Combined Effects of Cutting Orientation and Frying Techniques on the Physicochemical Properties and Quality of Fried Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas) Chips

This study examined how cutting orientations affect fried sweet potato quality. Transverse cuts, especially with shallow frying, showed reduced oil absorption, higher antioxidant activity, and better nutrient retention. Deep frying used less energy overall, whereas sensory tests favored shallow‐fried longitudinal cuts.
