Mesozoic–Cenozoic Thermochronology of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan System, NW China

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Tectonothermal history of the Tarim–Southern Tianshan system compared with the major tectonic events at far‐field plate margins. ABSTRACT The Tarim Basin, an oil‐bearing basin in northwest China, is tectonically and sedimentologically linked to the Southern Tianshan Orogenic Belt.

Thermochronologic Constraints on the Extensional History of the Ibex Hills, Southeastern Black Mountains, Death Valley, California

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A. Modeled T‐t paths for samples in the northern Ibex Hills, showing steady cooling throughout much of the Cenozoic, until rapid Miocene cooling. B. Weighted mean paths for each sample in this study. Note that all show a rapid cooling event at or just after 10 Ma, which is interpreted to represent exhumation as a result of regional extenstion ...

Crust-mantle decoupling revealed by seismic velocity anisotropy beneath Syowa Station, Antarctica

open access: yesAntarctic Record, 1997
We analyzed shear wave splittings in the crust beneath Syowa Station, using Moho converted Ps waves. Three set of receiver functions and stacked receiver functions from Tonga events are analyzed.

Crustal Deformations on Iwo-jima (I)

open access: yesJournal of Geography (Chigaku Zasshi), 1985
An amount of upheaval and its horizontal distribution were measured using topographic maps, aerial photographs, data of levelling and so on. Since 1952, the general increase in the upheaval rate was found, and in some places, its rate exceeded ca. 30 cm/year. Recently, the upheaval rate decreased, and in some place, subsidence was found.

Notable Impact of Paleotectonic Stress on Gold Mineralisation in the West Qinling Orogen

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
By applying fuzzy clustering and multiple inverse methods, we systematically processed the data of vein and fault slip in this ore deposit to reveal the transition of orogenic geological environment and paleotectonic stress field. Our research results show two different stress states: the northwest–southeast extensional stress field and the northeast ...

Proposed satellite laser ranging and very long baseline interferometry sites for crustal dynamics investigations [PDF]

open access: yes
Recommendations are presented for a global network of 125 sites for geodetic measurements by satellite laser ranging and very long baseline interferometry. The sites were proposed on the basis of existing facilities and scientific value for investigation
