Crustal and uppermost mantle structure of the northeastern Qinghai-Xizang Plateau from joint inversion of surface wave dispersions and receiver functions with P velocity constraintsKey points

open access: yesEarthquake Science
Lithospheric structure beneath the northeastern Qinghai-Xizang Plateau is of vital significance for studying the geodynamic processes of crustal thickening and expansion of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau.

Key Challenges for Commercializing Perovskite–Silicon Tandem Solar Cells

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
This review discusses the scientific and technological challenges in advancing perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells (PSTSCs) from lab‐scale to commercial viability, focusing on long‐term stability, scalability, and economic feasibility. Key issues include intrinsic and extrinsic degradation factors, installation conditions, environmental impacts, and ...

Molecular‐Tailored Ultrathin Hydrophobic Interphases for High‐Stable Zinc Metal Anodes

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Through a systematic comparison of the effects of alkyl small molecules with different backbone chain lengths and terminal structural distributions on the surface coverage and ordering of hydrophobic interfacial layers, the highly ordered FT‐SAMs are successfully constructed.

Lower crustal foundering drove the uplift of southern Tibet during the Paleocene

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
The growth of the Tibetan Plateau is traditionally attributed to the India-Asia collision and subsequent convergence. However, recent paleo-elevation reconstructions suggest that Gangdese arc in southern Tibetan Plateau reached >4.0 km before or ...

Graded Solvation‐Structure Electrolyte for Synergistic Polysulfide Confinement and Interfacial Stabilization in Potassium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A graded solvation structure is designed through a strongly–moderately–weakly solvating strategy to synergistically regulate potassium polysulfide dissolution and K‐anode deposition behavior. This tailored electrolyte effectively stabilizes the electrode/electrolyte interphases and accelerates sulfur redox kinetics.

Peak convergence rate controls crustal thickness in collisional orogens over 500 million years

open access: yesDiscover Geoscience
Whether the speed of plate convergence dictates the ultimate thickness and structural style of mountain belts remains poorly quantified over long timescales. Here I test the hypothesis that peak convergence rate is a primary control on crustal thickening

Peroxodisulfate‐Enhanced Leaching of Deep‐Sea Manganese Crusts and Sulfides

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Ammonium peroxodisulfate enables efficient leaching of deep‐sea manganese crusts and massive sulfides while offering electrolytic recycling. High leaching yields for V, Mn, Co, Mo, Sn, and W, along with complete leaching of As and Sb, highlight its potential as a powerful and sustainable oxidant for marine resource processing.
