Introducing Borsantrazole: A Trifunctional Boron‐Based Pyrazole That Extends the Lifespan of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein we report a boron‐based pyrazole, (Borsantrazole ‐ a small molecule that selectively targets oxidative stress) that significantly increases survival, reduces weight loss, delays disease onset, and affects global protein changes in the SOD1‐G37R mouse model of ALS.

Unsuccessful Coupling of Weakly Coordinating Anion–Based Mg Salts and Alkoxyalkylamine Solvents for Rechargeable Mg Battery Application: Trace Water‐Driven Interfacial Failure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Combining recently established two ground‐breaking concepts, the adoption of WCAs and the use of alkoxyalkylamine‐based solvents in electrolyte formulations for rechargeable magnesium metal batteries, has led to unexpectedly unsuccessful electrochemical Mg plating/stripping performance. Comprehensive experimental and computational analyses revealed the

Regional crustal thickness and precipitation in young mountain chains [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2004
Crustal thickness is related to climate through precipitation-induced erosion. Along the Andes, the highest mountains and thickest crust (≈70 km) occur at 25° south, a region of low precipitation. Westerly winds warm passing over the Atacama Desert; precipitation is modest in the High Andes and eastward over the Altiplano.
