Incorporating Plantain Into a Perennial Ryegrass–White Clover Mixed Sward for an Environmentally Sustainable Dairy System: A Three‐Year Farm System Study

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 2, April 2026.
Over three production years (2021–2024), this study investigated the effects of incorporating plantain into a perennial ryegrass–white clover (RGWC) mixed sward on dairy farm productivity and environmental footprint. Seventy‐two Friesian × Jersey cows were allocated to six farmlets across two replicated herbage treatments (n = 3): RGWC with no plantain

Genetic Parameters and Correlations for Dairy Weaning, 200‐, 400‐, and 600‐ Day Weights in Beef and Beef‐On‐Dairy Progeny Tested Calves

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 2, April 2026.
The expansion of the New Zealand dairy industry has increased the number of lower‐value surplus calves. A value‐add mitigation strategy is integrating them into the beef market. This study investigated the genetic association between growth traits recorded in the Beef + Lamb New Zealand's Dairy‐Beef and the Beef Progeny Test to estimate the genetic ...

Near infrared spectroscopy predicts crude protein concentration in hemp grain

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract This study evaluated near‐infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) for nondestructive crude protein (CP) prediction in hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) grain and validated the biological basis of spectral predictions. Note that 149 whole grain samples from 38 cultivars were collected from New York trials (2017–2021) and validated for CP by combustion.

A Quadruplex Reverse Transcription Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction for Detecting Canine Coronavirus, Canine Rotavirus, Canine Parvovirus, and Canine Distemper Virus

open access: yesMicrobiology Research
Background: Canine coronavirus (CCoV), canine rotavirus (CRV), canine parvovirus (CPV), and canine distemper virus (CDV) cause gastroenteritis in dogs, and co-infections of these pathogens are common in China. In particular, CCoV and CRV are confirmed to

Probing neutrino nature at Borexino detector with chromium neutrino source

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we indicate a possibility of utilizing the intense chromium source ($\sim 370 PBq$) in probing the neutrino nature in low energy neutrino experiments with the ultra-low threshold and background real-time Borexino detector located near the ...

Visual Object Tracking: The Initialisation Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Model initialisation is an important component of object tracking. Tracking algorithms are generally provided with the first frame of a sequence and a bounding box (BB) indicating the location of the object.

Movement Models to Predict Low‐Altitude Flight of Soaring Birds Using Look‐Ahead Environmental Factors

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Eagles see ahead. Now our model does too. By modeling how eagles respond to terrain and wind conditions in their line of sight, we can predict where they'll fly in the next 3 min with 3× better accuracy than current methods—protecting eagles while maximizing energy production.

Spatially resolving the outer atmosphere of the M giant BK Vir in the CO first overtone lines with VLTI/AMBER

open access: yes, 2011
The mass-loss mechanism in normal K--M giant stars with small variability amplitudes is not yet understood, although they are the majority among red giant stars. We present high-spatial and high-spectral resolution observations of the 2.3 micron CO lines
