Light Transmission Through Arctic Sea Ice - Large-Scale Studies on Seasonality and Spatial Variability [PDF]
Arctic sea ice has declined and become thinner and more seasonal during the last decade. One consequence of this is that the surface energy budget of the Arctic Ocean is changing.

Abstract Accurately estimating low‐altitude wind speed (WS) is a critical and challenging task, with significant implications for urban meteorology and pollution dispersion modeling. This study developed a novel three‐dimensional Physics‐Integrated Swin‐Transformer (3D‐PST) deep learning model to estimate high‐resolution WS in the urban boundary layer.

Where Snow and Forest Meet: A Global Atlas
The complex interactions between snow cover and forests have implications for ecosystems, water resources and the Earth's climate. However, the geographic distribution of where snow and forest overlap remains poorly known.

Abstract The width of rivers, and how it scales from narrow headwater streams to wide basin outlets, is a key yet highly uncertain parameter in estimating river‐atmosphere biogeochemical exchange. This study characterizes the full distribution of river widths across all stream orders in the Mississippi River Basin using multi‐source remote sensing ...

Observation of the Orientation of Snow Hydrometeors at Sheltered and Unsheltered Sites
Knowledge about orientation of falling snow is still poorly documented with field measurements despite its importance, for example, in the interpretation of remote sensing data. This study investigates the orientation of snow hydrometeors using data from
