Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Deciphering Aspergillus section Terrei in Galleria mellonella model: a clade-specific pathogenicity characterization

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
The Aspergillus genus encompasses a diverse array of species, some of which are opportunistic pathogens. Traditionally, human aspergillosis has primarily been linked to a few Aspergillus species, predominantly A. fumigatus.

Delimiting cryptic species within the brown-banded bamboo shark, Chiloscyllium punctatum in the Indo-Australian region with mitochondrial DNA and genome-wide SNP approaches

open access: yesBMC Ecology and Evolution, 2021
Background Delimiting cryptic species in elasmobranchs is a major challenge in modern taxonomy due the lack of available phenotypic features. Employing stand-alone genetics in splitting a cryptic species may prove problematic for further studies and for ...

Cryptic species are widespread across vertebrates

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences
Abstract Many species delimited by morphological data contain two or more species that are distinct based on molecular data (i.e. cryptic species). Cryptic species have important implications for ecology, evolution and conservation. For example, morphology-based species of limited conservation concern can contain cryptic species that ...

Functional Analysis of Ligand‐Gated Chloride Channels in a Cnidarian Sheds Light on the Evolution of Inhibitory Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We uncover a large variety of putative inhibitory ligand‐gated ion channels (LGICs) in the phylum Cnidaria, the sister group to all bilaterian animals. Phylogenetic analysis suggests a complex evolutionary history of inhibitory LGICs with diverse neurotransmitter ligands.

A practical implementation of large transcriptomic data analysis to resolve cryptic species diversity problems in microbial eukaryotes

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2018
Background Transcriptome sequencing has become a method of choice for evolutionary studies in microbial eukaryotes due to low cost and minimal sample requirements.

Protein Disulfide Isomerase Disassembles TDP‐43/G3BP1 Condensates and Antagonizes TDP‐43 Pathological Aggregates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic aggregation of TDP‐43 is a common pathological feature in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal lobar degeneration, and Alzheimer's disease with TDP‐43 pathology. This study reports that wild‐type PDI slows down phase separation of TDP‐43 through direct interaction with TDP‐43.

Discovery and Biosynthesis of the Novel Glycotetrapeptide Antibiotic Biffamycin A

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Genetic de‐regulation of a silent biosynthetic pathway allowed isolation and characterisation of a novel glycopeptide antibiotic named biffamycin A, which harbours unprecedented 5‐chloro‐4‐methoxy tryptophan and 3R‐hydroxy(α‐D‐mannoysl)‐D‐lysine moieties and is bioactive against MRSA and VRSA.

Diversity and environmental relations of cryptic, systemic Botrytis infections in symptomless hosts.

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Botrytis species are generally considered to be aggressive, necrotrophic plant pathogens. By contrast to this general perception, however, Botrytis species could frequently be isolated from the interior of multiple tissues in apparently healthy hosts of ...
