Pankinetoplast DNA structure in a primitive bodonid flagellate, Cryptobia helicis [PDF]

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal, 1998
The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of a primitive kinetoplastid flagellate Cryptobia helicis is composed of 4.2 kb minicircles and 43 kb maxicircles. 85% and 6% of the minicircles are in the form of supercoiled (SC) and relaxed (OC) monomers, respectively. The remaining minicircles (9%) constitute catenated oligomers composed of both the SC and OC molecules.

Revisions to the Classification, Nomenclature, and Diversity of Eukaryotes

open access: yesJournal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, Volume 66, Issue 1, Page 4-119, January/February 2019., 2019
Abstract This revision of the classification of eukaryotes follows that of Adl et al., 2012 [J. Euk. Microbiol. 59(5)] and retains an emphasis on protists. Changes since have improved the resolution of many nodes in phylogenetic analyses. For some clades even families are being clearly resolved.

Host‐Parasite Interactions in Some Fish Species

open access: yesJournal of Parasitology Research, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Host‐parasite interactions are complex, compounded by factors that are capable of shifting the balance in either direction. The host′s age, behaviour, immunological status, and environmental change can affect the association that is beneficial to the host whereas evasion of the host’s immune response favours the parasite.

Phylogeny of the kinetoplastida: taxonomic problems and insights into the evolution of parasitism

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2001
To further investigate phylogeny of kinetoplastid protozoa, the sequences of small subunit (18S) ribosomal RNA of nine bodonid isolates and ten isolates of insect trypanosomatids have been determined.

Inventarisation of Parasite in ”Dumbo” Catfish Clarias sp. from Bogor Region

open access: yesJurnal Akuakultur Indonesia, 2007
Outbreak of parasites can reduce aquaculture productivity or even cause mass mortality of fish. Few quantities of parasite infection may still be tolerated by the host, however high intensity of infection can impair to fish metabolism or even damage of ...
