Exploring potential mechanisms mediating Cryptobia-induced anorexia in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yes, 2007
This thesis examined potential mechanisms responsible for mediating anorexia associated with the disease cryptobiosis. Rainbow-trout ('Oncorhynchus mykiss') were treated with both the pathogenic and attenuated vaccine strain of 'Cryptobia salmositica,' as well as fed equal rations to that of infected fish.

Proteases in the haemoflagellate Cryptobia salmositica and their roles in salmonid cryptobiosis

open access: yes, 1997
Proteases were detected in Cryptobia salmositica, C. bullocki, and C. catostomi. Maximum activities occurred in acidic pH and the overall activity in the pathogenic strain of C. salmositica was significantly higher than those in its nonpathogenic strain and the nonpathogenic C. catostomi.
