An Insight on α-crystallin Interactions with Various Proteins in Systemic Disorders [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2023
αA- and αB- crystallins are the two principal components of the α-crystallin family of heat shock proteins which exhibit chaperone activity as well as cyto-protective function.

Comparison of the Lens Protein Profiles of Three Species of Ozark Salamanders [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The vertebrate lens has a high protein content (35%), 80-90% of which is composed of the soluble, lens-specific structural proteins, the crystallins. The lens protein profiles of urodelan species have been found to be qualitatively distinct.

A Comparative Analysis of Receptor‐Like Kinases in Chlorophyta Reveals the Presence of Putative Cell Wall Integrity Sensors

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 178, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Receptor‐like kinases (RLKs) detect external and internal signals, triggering responses essential for growth and adaptation. Among internal cues, cell wall integrity (CWI) sensing plays a key role, as changes in cell wall structure activate responses critical for development and defense.

Patients Suffering From Post‐COVID‐19 Syndrome Feature Enhanced Antibody Reactivity Towards Specific Linear Epitopes Within EBV EBNA1

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Immunology, Volume 103, Issue 1, January 2026.
Compared to convalescent individuals, post‐COVID‐19 patients showed increased IgG antibody reactivity in plasma to both a specific central region (amino acids 405–419) and glycine–alanine repeat sequences of EBV EBNA1. The sequences of the central region differ from those associated with molecular mimicry in multiple sclerosis patients.

Binding of Hg(I) and Hg(II) Ions to Amyloid‐Beta (Aβ) Peptide Variants Affect their Structure and Aggregation

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 24, December 11, 2025.
Mercury (Hg) is a possible risk factor for Alzheimer's disease, where neuronal death is related to amyloid brain plaques containing aggregated amyloid‐β (Aβ) peptides. We show that equimolar Hg(I) or Hg(II) ions inhibit normal Aβ aggregation. Hg(II) binds Aβ(1–40) with an apparent binding affinity 28 ± 8 μM.

Structural and Electrical Behavior of Swift Heavy Ion Irradiated Hafnium Oxide Polymorphs in Ferroelectric and Resistive Memories

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 21, December 17, 2025.
This study investigates the irradiation resistance of different HfO2‐x stacks to swift heavy ions with different energies. The results demonstrate that Ca‐ion irradiation has a negligible effect on the crystallinity and switching properties of the functional layers.

Bioinformatics analysis of γD-crystallin protein P23T mutation in a congenital cataract family

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2004
A Pro-23→Thr (P23T) substitution in γD-crystallin protein was identified in a hereditary congenital cataract family through previous study. The amino acid sequence, protein domain and motifs, and three-dimension structure of γD-crystallin protein and its

Competing protein-protein interactions regulate binding of Hsp27 to its client protein tau. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Small heat shock proteins (sHSPs) are a class of oligomeric molecular chaperones that limit protein aggregation. However, it is often not clear where sHSPs bind on their client proteins or how these protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are regulated. Here,
