Cohomology of crystalline representations

open access: yesDuke Mathematical Journal, 1993
The author constructs a \(p\)-adic cohomology theory for number-fields which combines étale cohomology (away from \(p)\) with crystalline cohomology at the prime \(p\). The corresponding \(H^ 1\) had been defined previously by \textit{S. Bloch} and \textit{K. Kato}.

Rational points on 3‐folds with nef anti‐canonical class over finite fields

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 130, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract We prove that a geometrically integral smooth projective 3‐fold X$X$ with nef anti‐canonical class and negative Kodaira dimension over a finite field Fq$\mathbb {F}_q$ of characteristic p>5$p>5$ and cardinality q=pe>19$q=p^e > 19$ has a rational point.

L${L}$‐functions of Kloosterman sheaves

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 129, Issue 5, November 2024.
Abstract In this article, we study a family of motives Mn+1k$\mathrm{M}_{n+1}^k$ associated with the symmetric power of Kloosterman sheaves constructed by Fresán, Sabbah, and Yu. They demonstrated that for n=1$n=1$, the L$L$‐functions of M2k$\mathrm{M}_{2}^k$ extend meromorphically to C$\mathbb {C}$ and satisfy the functional equations conjectured by ...

Poisson and Hochschild cohomology and the semiclassical limit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Let $B$ be a quantum algebra possessing a semiclassical limit $A$. We show that under certain hypotheses $B^e$ can be thought of as a deformation of the Poisson enveloping algebra of $A$, and we give a criterion for the Hochschild cohomology of $B$ to

Pairings, duality, amenability and bounded cohomology

open access: yes, 2012
We give a new perspective on the homological characterisations of amenability given by Johnson and Ringrose in the context of bounded cohomology and by Block and Weinberger in the context of uniformly finite homology.

Generating numbers of rings graded by amenable and supramenable groups

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 109, Issue 1, January 2024.
Abstract A ring R$R$ has unbounded generating number (UGN) if, for every positive integer n$n$, there is no R$R$‐module epimorphism Rn→Rn+1$R^n\rightarrow R^{n+1}$. For a ring R=⨁g∈GRg$R=\bigoplus _{g\in G} R_g$ graded by a group G$G$ such that the base ring R1$R_1$ has UGN, we identify several sets of conditions under which R$R$ must also have UGN ...

The L-two cohomology of Artin groups

open access: yes, 2003
For each Artin group we compute the reduced ℓ2-cohomology of its 'Salvetti complex'. This is a CW-complex which is conjectured to be a model for the classifying space of the Artin group. When this conjecture is known to hold our calculation describes the

Amenable actions, invariant means and bounded cohomology

open access: yes, 2012
We show that topological amenability of an action of a countable discrete group on a compact spaceis equivalent to the existence of an invariant mean for the action.
